Tourist number in Jurmala is increasing

The Chairman of Jurmala City Council – Romualds Ražuks states: “Jurmalas city council and Jurmala entrepreneurs are working hard to attract tourists all year round, organizing city events, carrying out marketing programmes, as well as promoting special offers. Jurmala city council is pleased that this work was very successful”

From January to June at least one night in Jurmala spent  tourists from Latvia – 39%, Russia-  19%, Estonia - 9%, Lithuania – 8%, Byelorussia – 5%, Finland and Norway -  4%, Sweden - 3 % , Germany - 2,4% and 1% from Poland.

In accordance with Central Statistics department data most of tourists in Jurmala have chosen resort rehabilitation centres (45%) and spa hotels (32%), that proves popularity of spa and resort treatments in that time of a year.

It should be noted, that in the first six months Jurmala was visited by 17 000 local tourists from Latvia, that is 17% more than last year for this period. Local tourists in Jurmala spend ave. 4,5 nights.  For about 50% increased tourist number from Russia.
Average duration of visit Jurmala resort is 4 days. The longest period in Jurmala was spent by visitors from Belarus (17 days), Germany – 6 days, Latvia – 4,5 days, Russia, Ukraine and France – 3 days.
